The Railway Children

St Michael’s Players Chiswick are performing THE RAILWAY CHILDREN from Wednesday 9 to Saturday 12 April at 7.45 pm plus a Saturday matinee at 4 pm, at St Michael’s Centre, Elmwood Road, W4 3DY, directed by Guy Fairbank.   The show was adapted for the stage by Mike Kenny, based on E. Nesbit’s classic book and the famous 1970 film (featuring Jenny Agutter, Dinah Sheridan and Bernard Cribbins, directed by Lionel Jeffries).  The play tells the story of an Edwardian family forced to move to a small cottage in Yorkshire after the father is wrongly imprisoned for selling state secrets.  Mother earns a meagre living writing stories, while her 3 children discover the joys of visiting the steam railway near their home, and embark on various adventures.  This theatrical version was first staged at the National Railway Museum and later at Waterloo Station.  We can’t promise you a real steam train, but you will be treated to a most entertaining show, full of laughter and the odd tear.  Tickets available from stmichaelsplayers.org – see attached poster for more details.  Cast list below.  Perfect for punters of any age, but especially those who are young at heart!
