On Friday 25 February 2022 we welcome Opera Integra back with a full-length comic opera in concert – Otto Nicholai’s The Merry Wives of Windsor. Based on the Shakespearian comedy, the opera presents the two neighbouring wives getting their own back on the world of men. Having both received the exact same unsolicited letter of love from the local ‘bon-viveur’ knight, they decide to humiliate him as punishment, and, at the same time, also trick their husbands into having more regard for them. It really is a surprisingly delightful comedy (both in its plot and musical jokes) and produces many a genuine laugh.
