Church open for individual prayer

24th December 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”  (John 1:5)

In the middle of Covid, we need Christmas more than ever. But this year, of course, we will be doing things a bit differently. As you will appreciate, Covid restrictions means that the safe seating capacity of St Peter’s is significantly reduced; government guidance also states that members of the public are NOT permitted to sing carols inside the church. Under  Tier 4, public worship is still permitted, but those who wish to attend worship at St Peter’s will need to book seats in advance.

As a result of the recent move to Tier 4 restrictions, we have also decided we need to change what we are able to offer on Christmas Eve.  We had hoped to sing carols together outside in the church garden, and also to offer a craft activity for children. Unfortunately, we don’t think we can do this safely within the government guidelines.

We will, however, still be opening St Peter’s Church for three hours in the afternoon, from 2 pm to 5 pm on Christmas Eve, for individuals or household groups who want to come inside to see the crib, say a prayer, and listen to some quiet Christmas music. Do drop in by yourself or with the family for twenty minutes whenever it suits you. No booking required, and we look forward to seeing as many as are able to make it!

For those who can’t come in person, a service of CAROLS AND READINGS from St Peter’s will be available online, via the St Peter’s YouTube channel.
