Lively, family-friendly and slightly chaotic beginning to Christmas, as we invite children to come dressed as Mary or Joseph, angels, shepherds, kings, sheep or any of the other characters, for an impromptu nativity with favourite carols. If we end up with three Marys and eight wise men, our view is the more the merrier!
Previous years have seen angels arrive on scooters decorated with tinsel, and a drone flying through the church as the star of Bethlehem! Arrive early if you’d like your child to do a reading.
To reduce risk of covid transmission, every other pew has been roped off to encourage social distancing, and we won’t be giving out any of our own outfits or gathering round the crib as we normally do. Please note that face masks are compulsory in church (unless you are exempt or aged under 11), and we ask members of the congregation to wear them even when singing during worship; we also ask parents to ensure that children remain seated in their household groups.
Those who attend worship or other church events are also encouraged (but not required) to take a lateral flow test beforehand. Tests are freely available from most pharmacists, or can be ordered directly from the government website at https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests
NHS covid passes are NOT required at places of worship, though obviously all those with covid symptoms or who have tested positive for covid will need to self-isolate at home.
